Company Profile
Lanowool® breastfeeding pads are manufactured in New Zealand. Name, idea and company is fully owned by Lene Alexandersen, a Danish mother of two children and married with a Newzealander. The idea about developing a 100% paraben free breast pad for nursing mothers that would also be extremely comfortable, breathable and soothing and not stick, came when Lene became a mother 11 years ago. Lanowool has grown every year since and is now represented in almost 10 countries.
Lanowool has always been in constant development and the last big step was taken in September 2009 where Lanowool started to introduce a breastpad in 100% Certified Organic merino wool under the BioGro NZ certification with ensures a 100% paraben free material against your breast which will decrease the risk of baby developing allergy later on in life.
Lene believes the Lanowool breastfeeding pads are an improvement from any other ordinary woollen breastfeeding pad:
“The very fine and non-itchy merino wool is softer against the skin, having been washed in biodegradable soap and treated with purified medical-grade lanolin, which ensures the optimal environment for breast care”, she says. This opinion is reinforced by an overwhelming positive response from new mothers using the pads. Lanowool has been welcomed by many neo-natal clinics, hospitals, lactation clinics and family centres to help mothers continue breastfeeding if they experience sore nipples. Good latching on technique is paramount, but a breathable and soft and non-sticky breastpad can be a great help, too!”
